If you love your Volvo internal combustion engines, you may be in for a bit of a shock. Volvo recently announced plans to phase out the internal combustion engine, getting rid of it entirely by 2019. Starting in 2019, all Volvo vehicles will have some sort of electrical power. While there will still be gas engines, they will not be the sole means of power. Volvo plans on making every vehicle a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, or fully electric.

Volvo previously stated their goal was to sell 1,000,000 electric cars and hybrids by 2025, and this change will definitely help. As a further commitment to hybrid and electric vehicles, Volvo plans to launch five new hybrid and electric vehicles between 2019 and 2021. We can't wait to see what else Volvo has in store for us.
