To call 2017 a big year for Volvo would be something of an understatement. Not only did the popular 2018 XC60 debut in March, but was followed by the first-ever XC40 subcompact crossover. Along with all the press attention and sales gains seen the world over, more customers than ever from Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bentonville and Rogers are stopping by our showroom to see what all the fuss is about. Yet what’s to come is more exciting, still!

Until about eight years ago, those looking for a small utility vehicle had two options—a compact crossover like the beloved XC60, or a hatchback or wagon like the V60. Now, automakers are going a size smaller still with “subcompact” CUVs. But while Car and Driver notes that this segment has taken off in a big way, they also acknowledge that many such models can lack substance. Although last year was the first model year on sale, that hasn’t stopped the Swedes from packing new gear into the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country. This year, a new engine joins the fold, as well as new standard safety features. But as this is still a fairly new vehicle, and with the crossover increasingly becoming the go-to for customer’s utility needs, you might find it warrants a closer look.
