To call 2017 a big year for Volvo would be something of an understatement. Not only did the popular 2018 XC60 debut in March, but was followed by the first-ever XC40 subcompact crossover. Along with all the press attention and sales gains seen the world over, more customers than ever from Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bentonville and Rogers are stopping by our showroom to see what all the fuss is about. Yet what’s to come is more exciting, still!

A Year to Remember
In addition to introducing two all-new models, Volvo also detailed its plan to introduce electrification across the range by 2019, and launched “Polestar” as a stand-alone, EV and hybrid-based performance marque. But don’t take that to mean that the Swedes are nixing their gasoline engines entirely. As we wrote in in a recent blog post, adding electric motors to the range will also see performance and safety benefits as well as better efficiency.

Volvo also expanded its production facilities, opening a brand-new plant in South Carolina while continuing to develop its semi- and totally autonomous driving systems. Combined with the success of the 90-series flagship models, Volvo saw a 7 percent sales increase over 2016 globally.

But Plenty More to Come…
The new year will kick off with the launch of the all-new XC40 in March, as well as the next-generation S60 and other all-new models. But as the Volvo family expands its reach through partnerships with the ride share service Uber, as well as their new performance brand, models with an S, V, or XC before their names won’t be the only new tastes to acquire. After our first look at the Polestar 1 late last year—a model that borrows from Volvo’s legendary P1800 and Concept Coupe from 2013—it’s clear that the Swedes are just getting started!
